How do you decide which structure to go with?

I think Timber Frame is best.

Everybody has a personal preference.

The thing to remember is whether you are going to get involved
in the actual construction process yourself or not.

If you are then simplified masonry (clay blocks with thin bed joints)
or icf with concrete infill can easily be mastered.

If not then traditional masonry or timber frame can be used with
the advantage between those two going to timber frame as it
provides a much quicker shell erection enabling all the trades to
work inside when it is watertight.
